Now I am slowly starting to feel the pain of goodbye.
The definitely last day in Berlin in my sabbatical year is over, done and dusted.
And from the city where I spent most of the last months, I already say: The time was too short!
The last two days were really good to me.
After passing the paramedic exam, I had to indulge in some culture.
But my head was empty, my brain broken.
Please no intellectual demands....🤣
Then I found the only sitcom theater series in the world: 'Gutes Wedding - schlechtes Wedding!' - Episode 125 'Club der toten Döner'.
Yes, that worked out really well. It was really funny!
But on the way there it got serious again. I found a street with a memorial plaque, commemorating a Berlin married couple who wrote postcards against the regime and war during the Nazi dictatorship and left them in public places.
They were arrested and executed. Their story was later retold by Hans Fallada in the magnificent novel 'Alone in Berlin'.
On the last day I invited my wonderful friends for breakfast at Café Alibi in Kreuzberg.
We were not there in full strength.
That's just how it is. Things always come up when you least need them.
It was still super nice.
I arrived a little earlier and was actually greeted by the waiter, whom I hadn't seen in 6 weeks, with the words: 'Nice to have you back, let me give you a hug.'
We had breakfast until shortly before 4pm. That's Berlin for you!
Afterwards I met up with little Lea.
She is definitely my favorite paramedic at heart!!!
You can have a wonderful half day chat with Lea, drink tea and vodka at the Tajik Tea House, and watch superhero movies at the cinema.
Phew....Berlin, you're really making the farewell hard for me!
