24. Day: On our way south, we crossed the Corinth Canal. This former masterpiece of engineering is currently out of operation. So no ships to spit on the deck. However, the view down is still impressive.
Due to its strategically advantageous location on the isthmus between the Aegean and Ionian Seas, Corinth was once very prosperous. That's why they could afford such a huge fortress back then. The tour of the sprawling castle, which sits on a massive rock, is enjoyable for everyone. The clouds passing through, obscuring our view, add to the medieval atmosphere.
Our last stop of the day is the archaeological sites at Epidaurus. You need to have a penchant for excavations, but the theater is amazing. According to Max's research, the actors can still be heard well even at the top because the frequencies of the typical background noises are absorbed by the stone structure.
