Polynesian Culture Center

Publikováno: 19.10.2019

We drove about 35 km and 45 minutes along the coastal road heading north. Occasionally, we stopped to take photos.
In the park of the Polynesian culture center, we leisurely walked from one Polynesian island to another and watched locals explain their dances, make fire, handle weapons, weave baskets from palm leaves, open coconuts, etc. There were huts in every village and at certain times, we could take a seat and learn about the culture. The most impressive for us was the Haka, a very expressive dance from New Zealand, performed in a typically Maori-designed church. 😃 We could also try some things ourselves. Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, Tahiti, Aoteaora, and Hawai'i. All in one day 🙂 The tickets for this park are already very expensive. I had booked it in advance at home and received a 15% discount. But it's definitely worth it!
Just because of the Hawaiian buffet offered between 5 PM and 7 PM. This way, we could try different things. Even Martin and Mick, who are notoriously picky eaters, ended up being stuffed for the show 🙂
The show started at 7:30 PM. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to take photos or videos. But we could be sure that what was shown was truly authentic. There are many immensely overpriced show offerings in Hawai'i (ticket per person starting from 140 €), which unfortunately do not do justice to their name Luau. At 9:30 PM, we started our journey back home and fell exhausted into our bed 🙂
