Today we went from Airlie Beach to Whitsunday Island by catamaran. There were many clouds in the morning, the meeting point was at 6:30am. But when we arrived there at 9:00am, the weather was beautiful. First, we went to Whitehaven Beach, then Hamilton Island.
Great beach, white fine sand, turquoise water. Goannas were walking on the island, about 1 meter long without tail. They stroll around so chilled, just like everyone here in Australia. The so-called monitor lizards, which come in many species, can grow up to 2 meters long. With their long claws, they are good climbers.
Afterwards, we only drove 80 km in the late afternoon because it gets dark soon and the camping sites close at 6:00 pm. A beautiful place, by the sea with a wall, without a beach. It's raining again, but all places have kitchens and BBQ areas. The larger places often have a pool as well. We eat under a roof, right by the sea: lamb chops, salad, and grilled zucchini.
