So there I was in Aosta, waiting for the rain. According to the weather forecast, it was supposed to start early in the morning and rain more or less for two days. After the exhausting first four days, I didn't mind taking a break. And it would certainly do the completely dried out nature good.
I spent the first night in Aosta at the campsite. Since it was cloudy but still dry in the morning, I quickly packed up. I preferred to wait out the storm in a solid accommodation and had booked a cheap hotel as a precaution.
But the rain still didn't come. Maybe I could explore the Pila Bikepark in more detail until the heavy rain arrived? So I bought a ticket and went for the not so bad enduro and downhill trails. It was really fun and by noon, it was still cloudy but dry. Could I dare to go down the Pila Epic Freeride again? This time without all the luggage and carefree? I dared and rode down the trail a second time. It was even better than the first time. However, my brake fingers were dangerously close to developing tenosynovitis afterwards. And still no sign of rain... The sun even came out again.
On the second day of bad weather, it was really time for a break. There were Aperol, burgers, and a lot of relaxation. And also new pedals, because somehow I managed to destroy the bearings. The rain continued to hold off. Until it started heavily in the evening. And unfortunately, the low pressure system was expected to continue into the next day. I had planned to climb the next pass again. Another 2000 vertical meters in one go. Not good at all.
