Better late than never... (The Journey)

Publikováno: 20.09.2016

Finally, I have half an hour to tell you something about me...

Just before I start. Beautiful Argentina has around 43,000,000 inhabitants in an area of 2,780,400 square kilometers, which is almost 8 times the size of Germany.

My journey started at Munich Airport, where I was bid farewell with one of the most beautiful sunsets.

The route took me through Frankfurt Airport, from where my friend and I flew directly to Buenos Aires at 10 p.m. on September 1st. The flight lasted about 14 hours and was more or less enjoyable. I could only sleep intermittently for a maximum of 2 hours at a time. I gladly skipped dinner and breakfast despite being hungry. I have never been served anything so disgusting. We landed on September 2nd at around 7 a.m. Argentine time. In Germany, you are always 5 hours ahead of me.

We were welcomed in Buenos Aires and taken to a bus station, from where we drove another 3 hours westward inland. The first impression of the country was very conflicting. In the city, everything was crowded and complete chaos. The traffic is absolutely incomparable to Europe. Even the Italians drive decently in comparison. However, the cars are also completely different from Europe. I would never have believed what kind of cars you see here. An example:

I saw this car in a Playstation game years ago and I always wished to see something like this in a museum, but here it is completely normal. I guess in Argentina they don't even have a word for TÜV given the look of the cars here.

As soon as we left the city with the bus, there was nothing to see far and wide except for fields and Angus cattle. Really, for 60-70 kilometers, there was just pasture, it was a miracle if we occasionally saw a few trees. That also explains the population density of 15 people per square kilometer. There is also only one paved road. Every 10 kilometers, there are some kind of dirt roads that lead to small towns. The same applies to the place where I am now. Our journey ended in O'Higgins around 2 p.m.

That's it for now, I have to continue. Hopefully, more will follow soon.
