Sacramento, the capital of California, is located in the Sacramento Valley at the confluence of the American River and the Sacramento River. The Old Sacramento district with its wooden sidewalks reminds of the gold rush era. Here, in the Waterfront District, we took a walk, saw some trains at the famous Railroad Museum, and the golden Tower Bridge, which crosses the Sacramento River. It wasn't always golden. Originally, it was silver, but the residents complained that the bridge was too bright. So it was painted sky blue and then ochre yellow. In 2001, there was a vote. Various colors were available. The winning color was gold and since 2002 it has been wearing this coat, which is supposed to last for 30 years.
Now it was time to go to San Francisco. And we were all looking forward to the big coastal city.
