Not far from us is the peninsula of Sirmione. We parked our car at the last free parking lot and now had a 3.5 kilometer walk ahead of us to the tip of the island. We passed huge villas and hotels, expensive cars and blooming front gardens. Then we reached the wide moat that separates the old town from the mainland and saw the water castle first. We strolled through the romantically winding, colorful alleys of the old town and the park-like tip of the island with cypresses and olive groves. As a finale, we had a fresh lemonade from giant lemons. Now we adapted to the Italians and took a siesta first. At slightly cooler temperatures, we drove to the west coast of Lake Garda to Manerba del Garda. Here there is a beautiful long beach with promenade. In some places, we even found some sand in the wash zone. Unfortunately, we did not see any bars or restaurants. Behind the promenade there are numerous campsites and the campers are mainly self-sufficient. So we cooked ourselves again.
