Tuesday, 18.02.20, Day 93

Publicat: 25.02.2020

Ocean View Recreational Reserve, Brighton

Today we drive to the well-known Tunnel Beach in Dunedin as our first stop. The steep path leads to a huge rock tunnel where the high waves break and the water rises up the rock walls. Through a narrow rock tunnel, we get to the water directly and can observe the rugged coastline from below. To strengthen ourselves, we take advantage of the affordable offers from Pizza Hut where you can get a pizza for under €3. After a refreshing meal, we drive to Baldwin Street - the steepest street in the world - which we actually want to drive up with Zuhlo at some point. But when we stand at the foot of the street, it looks steeper than in pictures and road signs indicate not to drive the street with campervans. To learn from the surfers in Dunedin, we drive to the popular surf spot St. Clair. There we meet two German guys again, whom we last saw in Rotorua, and have a nice conversation. For the night, we drive to a campground just outside of Dunedin in Warrington.
