Devonport and Departure

Publicat: 05.10.2018

Guess who's back, back again, Shady's back, tell a friend. After a while, I've decided to share something again, there's a lot. But I'll keep it organized. First, let's talk about the Sunday of my departure.

On that day, three other guys and I wanted to visit an island near Auckland, Devonport. The island could be reached by ferry. The day was actually quite pleasant and relaxed, especially for the last day in Auckland before I leave for the South Island to fulfill my duties as a motivated farmer. On Devonport there is Mt. Victoria, where you have a really good view of Auckland and the surrounding islands. It was a bit of a walk, but it wasn't a big deal. I was about to upload pictures, but the internet is too bad. Moving on.

Devonport is an island with a small town, everything seems so peaceful and happy, I noticed that something is not right, the town is probably a hidden hideout of an organization, because it was really too... I just received a message from the Illuminati, can't say anything anymore.

Since my flight to Christchurch was at 8:30 PM, I had to plan my time to get ready and make my way.

In Devonport, we treated ourselves to an ice cream that wasn't worth it and then we headed back.

When I arrived at the hostel, I was excited again. What will happen, how awesome will it be? I was motivated and ready. I was also a bit sad, just when you start feeling comfortable in Auckland, you have to leave. Anyway, life goes on. I took an $18 shuttle to the airport and from there I took the flight to Christchurch. A quick note. The airport in Auckland was really high tech, you check in and drop off your luggage yourself using machines. The flight was also quite pleasant, it went pretty fast.

When I arrived in Christchurch, around 10:30 PM, I had to look for the hostel I had booked. After a 20-minute search, I finally found it. The hostel was pretty cool, you slept in pods. Like sleeping capsules. I thought it would be all comfortable, but it was the opposite. It was hell. The mattress was really thin and my whole back hurt in the morning.

So now I had to wait for the shuttle the next morning, unfortunately I couldn't wait at the hostel because check-out was already at 10 AM. I had to kill my 4 hours somehow. So I went back to the airport and watched Netflix there.

Finally, at 2 PM, the shuttle arrived and we drove off. From Christchurch, through the famous Arthur Pass and then to Greymouth. The Arthur Pass somehow reminded me of the way to Arif. It was really steep and there were only mountains. In the shuttle, there was a couple from England. They were like, I don't know, maybe 18 years old or something. Ugh, they were so annoying, OMG, I wanted to kill them.

When we arrived in Greymouth, the woman from the farm was already waiting there. Her name is Amelia and she's really nice. She talked a lot and was also very polite and helpful. We drove for about 40 minutes to the farm. Amelia showed me the house where I would be living for the next few months. I got a house all to myself, I actually thought I would get a room with them or something. but no, I was alone in the house. The internet connection is also crap, well actually, there's no internet in the house.

Now I was on the farm and it was 8 PM. I didn't really know what to do, so I went to sleep.

I'll tell you about how things go on the farm in another post.

Peace out
