10.02. Kolding (cold-ing)

Publicat: 10.02.2018

Since last evening lasted longer, getting up this morning was a bit difficult for me. :-P Nevertheless, I was punctual at the bus station at 9:00 to go to Kolding (north of Haderslev) with a few girls from my Erasmus group.

Kolding is a lovely, small, charming city with a large lake and a castle. We went directly from the bus to the castle and wanted to visit it 'quickly'. It turned into two hours because it is really beautiful and you can easily spend a whole day there. (very worth seeing!)

Koldinghus is a Danish royal castle in the city of Kolding in eastern Jutland, which was established in the middle of the 12th century. It burned down in 1808 and remained unused as a ruin for a long time, but was then rebuilt as part of a long-term restoration. Today, Koldinghus is used as a museum for castle history and a venue for changing art exhibitions and artistic activities. From the park around the castle, you have a good view of the city of Kolding and the adjacent castle lake. The castle tower offers a 75-meter high view from an observation platform. [Wikipedia]

After visiting the castle, we walked through the city center and sat down in a small bistro to eat. The prices in restaurants are really VERY expensive! I paid almost two euros for a glass of tap water and thirteen euros for a 'snack' consisting of fries, chicken nuggets, mozzarella sticks, and onion rings. So if you want to eat comfortably in a restaurant, you should bring enough money.

Unfortunately, it was very cold today (below freezing), so after our lunch we only went to a few shops (Netto, HomeDecor, SevenEleven...) and then took the bus back to Haderslev.
