Baths

After a night, we leave Shandia again and take a public bus towards Baños. Since the bridge to cross the Rio Napo is closed, we get off the bus shortly after to walk across the closed bridge on foot and see directly why it is not passable. Without accidents, we then board another bus on the other side of the river and head to Baños. The city is no longer in the Amazon itself but is still surrounded by rainforest and some waterfalls. The city is characterized by tourism; many different shops and agencies offer excursions, some of which we will do tomorrow. To do this, we go to the office of an agency and plan the next day. We walk around the city and have lunch: The lunch menu consists of salad, soup, main course, dessert, and juice, costs $3.50, and tastes great (as usual here). In the afternoon, we explore the first stations in Baños. First, we take a cable car over the Rio Pastaza Gorge and enjoy the view offered here. Back on the bus, we head to Cascada El Pailon; an 80m high waterfall where I get properly wet. I change clothes on the bus and then we drive up a mountain to enjoy a wonderful view of Baños and the surroundings while swinging to capture it all in pictures. Meanwhile, the sun sets, and we witness the whole color spectacle that is offered to us. For dinner, we head to the city and speculate about the adventures that await us tomorrow.
