Alternative Santiago

Publicat: 04.01.2017

Today I did a second walking tour, this time in the northern part of the city, far from the tourist paths.

The tour had 2 themes, the big markets where only Chileans, Peruvians and Bolivians go (Peruvians and Bolivians are comparable to Spaniards, Italians, and Greeks in Germany). Here are some impressions, although the cakes impressed me the most (of course, the pig's head as well... J

The second theme was the Cemetario Central, the main cemetery, where 2 million people wait for the judgment day, some in compartments, some in feudal mausoleums, even Greeks were there...

By the way, all religions peacefully coexist here, except for Muslims, there are none... Nadie....

Among them are also 33 former Chilean presidents (it's astonishing that they can have so many from 1810 until today, especially since not all of them are here...) and the most famous one is Salvador Allende, who was driven to suicide by the military junta on September 11, 1973... The military dictatorship is an event that you can feel in every corner here... It shapes the people and also divides them...

Since we were talking about this topic, I also visited...

Helado, eher selten. In den Buden ist es nicht so gut wie es sein sollte. Zudem muss ich auch hier bissl auf meine Astralfigur achten :-)
