Tour data: 106.3 km, Ø 21.0 km/h, Duration: 5:04 hours.
Weather: beautiful blue sky, temperatures starting at 3° and reaching 8° at the destination. Little wind, mostly from the south, so headwind.
Regarding accommodation, today I did something that I haven't done on this trip yet: I booked an Airbnb! During my hike around Lake Geneva last year, I often stayed in Airbnbs, as we did it ourselves for several years. The disadvantage, however, is that you have to book in advance and can't just come spontaneously like in a hotel.
These hosts caught my attention very positively through their ad and all the reviews were very positive as well. The advantage, of course, is that I know exactly where I have to go from the beginning and Komoot will guide me there.
Compared to Finland, Sweden is far behind in terms of bike paths. For the over 100 km today, the first 70 km were all just roads without bike lanes, let alone separate paths. I felt like in the past when the word "bike path" didn't even exist. However, back then there was also much less traffic.
The landscapes I passed through were very beautiful and varied. I only passed through 2 small towns along the whole route, not counting the suburbs of Stockholm. But take a look at the photos and you'll know what I mean.
What struck me in particular was that it became greener and greener the further south I went. After all, I rode 100 km only southwards. In comparison, the distance from Lucerne to Bellinzona is about 120 km. And the same was true for the temperature today, it went from 3° to 8°.
Stockholm is a wonderful city for me; I've already had unforgettable experiences here. Starting with video recordings where I got very close to the king. However, I had to ask, because I didn't recognize him. Maybe I was expecting a man with a crown on his head? To my defense, I can say that he didn't recognize me either.
Another great time I spent here was with Caroline, when we paddled around the island world in Stockholm with 2 kayaks, a tent, and all the equipment in 2005.
In the Globe, a huge sphere with an equally large event hall, I was able to film an international military tattoo at the invitation of the army band. Brigitte was even allowed to accompany me. That was also an unforgettable experience.
So I have only positive memories connected to Stockholm. All this has prompted me to include Stockholm as a waypoint on my tour. That's why I have already planned a rest day for tomorrow to visit the center of Stockholm as well.
I took a special photo today because I noticed that the green of the conifer trees with a blue sky in the background is much greener than with a cloudy background also in sunlight. Do you see it that way too or is it an optical illusion on my part? Actually, it doesn't matter, these trees excited me. That's why I had to take the photo.
