Etosha Part 2

Yesterday, we drove across the Etosha NP, along the pan of the same name.

In the eastern part of the NP you can often see herds of countless ungulates crossing the landscape, and giraffes, which were rarely seen in the west, could be seen on every corner here.

And yes, the grey giants were there too, we could see them up close, very very impressive. We spent the rest of the day in the new lodge outside the national park, I enjoyed the rest of the day in bed, unfortunately despite all precautions I caught an MD infection.

The lodges in Africa, wow, what can you say, one better, more exclusive than the other, fantastic location, wonderful food. Here on the other side of the Etosha Pan, where you go towards the Caprivi Strip, tourism is even rarer. The lodge we are in was not even 1/3 full yesterday.

Personally, I always have a bad conscience and a queasy feeling when I enter the accommodations... on the other hand, it must be said that the employees probably secure the existence of many families through their jobs; there is nothing here except tourism, in a very stripped-down form, nothing else, absolutely nothing.

There is a waterhole right outside the accommodation where whole herds of animals regularly go.

Tomorrow we have a long drive planned of 400 km to the border with Angola, directly on the Caprivi Strip.
