Kyoto - the old capital

Objavljeno: 24.06.2017

'This is a beautiful temple.' Two streets away: 'Oh, a temple.' Looked around the corner: 'Another temple again.' This little dialogue perfectly describes Kyoto. Because the city is famous for its many temples (which is also evident from the crowds of tourists (mostly Chinese) :D). Our hostel is located right on the edge of the Gion district, which is also often referred to as the Geisha district. There are many restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops in old wooden houses here.

So yesterday we went to a landmark of Kyoto: the Kiyomizu Temple. The wooden temple is built on a slope and has a large terrace from which you have a beautiful view of the city. However, the temple is currently under renovation, so it was completely covered. If you want to see the temple, you have to google it, unfortunately. Then we continued to the next temple: the Chion-in. Here hangs the largest bell in Japan. This temple complex is also located on a slope, and the higher you climb, the fewer people there are. In the highest building, there was no one left, and here you could make music with frog-like drums. Our musical piece can still be heard through the streets of Kyoto :D
