Finally, we made it to the city of Perth, which has almost 2 million inhabitants. Three quarters of the population of Western Australia live in Perth. Perth is still 'growing', you can see construction sites everywhere where even more skyscrapers are being built. It was a big change for us to drive in the city, there are partially four-lane highways and there is a lot of traffic.
As accommodation for the next 3 nights, we rented a small apartment in the middle of the city.
We visited some shopping centers in the area and were pleased with the selection of gluten-free food. There are great rolls, bagels, and exotic cookies here. Most snack/fast food stands have something gluten-free to choose from. After exploring the mall/pedestrian zone, we went to the West Australia Art Gallery. The museum is free of charge and has some interesting exhibitions.
The next morning, after a hearty breakfast, we went to see the various city parks. The most famous city park is 'Kings Park', which we visited in the afternoon. Unfortunately, we were tired and saved the rest of the park for Thursday.
For lunch, we got gluten-free pizza from the delivery service 'Dominos'. They have three gluten-free pizzas on offer. The pizzas were fantastic and are among the best gluten-free pizzas we have ever eaten.
After dinner and a break, we went back to the city to see the skyline at night. It's clear that Perth is a relatively 'new' city, everything is very modern. We really like the city, everyone is very busy, but it is still relaxed.
