Mexico: Sun all day

We didn't originally have Mexico on our travel route at all. But the many enthusiastic stories from other backpackers and the prospect of dream beaches on the Caribbean coast convinced us otherwise, so we quickly booked our flights from Guatemala to Cancun instead of continuing on to Honduras. There, as luck would have it, we met Matze and Mario again, who were flying to Cuba the next day, and celebrated our reunion for a night.

But how can we best summarize our 10 days in 5 different places in Mexico? Sun, beach and relaxation probably sums it up quite well. In addition, two fascinating snorkeling experiences, one with turtles right on the beach, and the other in one of the many water caves in Mexico. A lake that provides more Caribbean vibes than some beaches by the sea. And a bike ride along the beach of Holbox, a car-free island, accompanied by pelicans and flamingos. All of this in incredibly hot temperatures, both on land and in the water. And finally, the beginning of a long bus ride through Belize back to Guatemala (for now).
