Ich drück die Daumen, LG SusiObjavljeno: 02.07.2022
The excitement is rising, because on Saturday we start our big tour to Canada. This time we are less concerned about the children and whether all the stuff will come with us, but rather that the ICE train from Erfurt to Frankfurt will depart on time, that the chaos at the airport is kept to a minimum and that the plane can take off on time. Hopefully, we will then be able to enter Canada without incidents or a COVID-19 test.
If everything works out, we have 4 exciting weeks ahead of us with the camper on the West Coast of Canada, visiting the great national parks. My husband René, our two boys Erik and David, and my mom are all on board. We are happy to have her accompany us on this trip.
We'll be in touch from Vancouver...
Best regards, Anna
Unfortunately, my worst fear becomes reality. Our train is canceled without replacement. Fortunately, I notice the cancellation early at 5 o'clock in the morning and we find an alternative. Taking the next train poses too great a risk for us. So we quickly book a parking space and pack the car. We roll out of the driveway just before 6 o'clock. What a stress.
Fortunately, it's Saturday and the roads are clear, so we quickly arrive in Frankfurt. We take the shuttle and are already at the airport shortly after 9 o'clock. We handle the baggage drop-off ourselves at the machine, which saves us personnel and time. There are many people on the move. Then we go straight to the security checks, the news from the past few days make us anxious. The queue is longer than usual, but we make good progress. Thanks to the child bonus from David, we are let through for the last few meters and save about 30 minutes of waiting time. It's 11 o'clock when we're done with the procedure. Our flight is at 1:20 p.m. so we enjoy a snack.
The kids are excited and can still move around. Unfortunately, the boarding is delayed by 1 hour, but thanks to good wind conditions we make up for this time.
The immigration process is smooth and fast. Our suitcases arrive as well. No one here talks about COVID-19, only the mask in the airport reminds us of it.
A short time later, we are sitting in the shuttle to the hotel and checking in. After a break, we walk to the nearby diner. David is almost falling asleep at the table, so we hurry up so that after almost 24 hours, we can finally fall into bed.
