This morning we woke up to beautiful weather. The weather is pleasantly warm again today, allowing us to have breakfast on our balcony.
Due to the lovely weather, we decide to go to Falésia Beach today.
Praia da Falésia is one of the most famous and impressive beaches in the Algarve, Portugal. It lies between the towns of Vilamoura and Albufeira and stretches approximately six kilometers along the southern coast of Portugal.
Its name “Falésia” translates to “cliff,” which is fitting as the beach is framed by imposing, reddish-golden sandstone cliffs that have become the hallmark of this coastal region.
These cliffs shimmer in various shades of red depending on the time of day, creating spectacular contrasts with the blue sky and the Atlantic Ocean.
The special nature of the beach, with its length and spaciousness, offers plenty of space and a feeling of tranquility and freedom, especially now in the off-season. As the cliffs gently slope down to the sea, the water is calm and clear, making Praia da Falésia a popular destination. The shallow access to the water is ideal for beach walks. Today, we walked about 5 km, and it felt great to stretch our legs after the long car journey of the past few days.
There is also a path along the cliffs that offers breathtaking views of the coast and the Atlantic. Today, we chose the barefoot version in the sea water. The constantly changing colors of the rocks are a rewarding subject for photos. Even though we have been here many times, we took countless pictures again.
Praia da Falésia is often referred to as one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe and is definitely a highlight.
In the late afternoon, we go to admire the sunset. Today the sun set at 5:36 PM. Note that we are one hour behind Switzerland.
