I'm already spend my seventh day in Cape Town and finally have some time to tell about my eventful week! :)
A bit tired and exhausted from my long journey, I started the chapter 'Volunteering in Cape Town' on Monday. Immediately, I spotted a young woman holding a sign with my name in the reception hall. She greeted me warmly and my anticipation replaced my nervousness. After welcoming another volunteer, we drove to our volunteer house, my home for the next 4 weeks. The house is located in a district called 'Observatory', also known as 'Obs'. Obs is the student quarter of the city and is characterized by many restaurants, cafes, and bars. The city center and the waterfront can be reached in about 15 minutes by taxi (such a ride costs around 6 USD).
In the house, we were already expected by the other volunteers and the team from African Impact. After dinner, we went together to a bar, spent the first evening there, and got to know each other.
The female part of the volunteers from New Zealand, America, Wales, Canada, Malta, Norway, and the Netherlands!
