... In Oslo

प्रकाशित भइल बा: 05.09.2019

On the first day, after a good breakfast, we left Berlin for Kiel at 11:00 on 31.08.19 with Willie and then took the ferry "Stena Line Germanica" to arrive in Gothenburg (Sweden) the next day in time for breakfast. We spent the night in a small cabin with two bunk beds. The small, approximately 80 cm wide bunk beds, as well as the lack of oxygen, made for a less restful night.

After the approximately four-hour drive from Gothenburg to Oslo, we dropped off our luggage at the accommodation before the rest of the group arrived one by one, Bine by train, Babsi and Wolf by plane. We then went together to the city center. We walked a part of the coastal route in Oslo and enjoyed a beer together at the "Salt Market". Compared to the beer in Slovakia last year for only 1.10 euros, we treated ourselves to a beer for a whopping 9.50 euros.

Time flew by in Oslo. On day one, we spent our time in sunshine and refreshing sea breeze on the small islands of Hövedöya and Gressholmen in the Oslo Fjord, and in the Vigeland Park - so much nature and art in one capital city! Oslo is generally very clean, full of hidden artworks and modern buildings. The sculptures in the Vigeland Park were rather peculiar and intimidating, but the park was just right for enjoying a local supermarket beer and some chips on the lush green lawn. On day two, we spent most of our time in the Fram Polar Ship Museum, Maritime Museum, and Kon Tiki Museum, mainly in drizzle and heavy rain, with the Polar Ship Museum being the most impressive. In addition, due to our cultural and educational trip, we now understand the connection between Norway and South America or Polynesia, as well as various stages of shipbuilding. In the evenings, we cooked, chatted, planned, and played UNO and Drawful (also known as Pictionary).

On Wednesday, after four days, it was time to say goodbye to the fellow travelers. After a shared coffee, they set off for Gothenburg by bus and train. Babsi and Wolf spent a few more days there, while Bine continued to Stockholm. Armed with a bag of cinnamon treats, we headed north towards the Jotunheimen National Park. Along the way, we made our way through low-hanging clouds and snow-covered landscapes. We originally planned to hike the Besseggen Ridge there, but the weather forecast with rain and below freezing temperatures for the upcoming days made us move on. The landscape was impressive, despite the low clouds, fog, and rain, the mountain slopes with their countless waterfalls were incredibly beautiful.

So we spent our first roof tent night of 2019 at a small hidden lake surrounded by roaming cows and sheep. A great spot that we couldn't enjoy as much due to the continuous rain. So we headed directly to Trondheim and from there to an Airbnb accommodation in Levanger. After stretching our legs and some pesto noodles, we want to be good influencers and delight you with a post before we plan the next few days... it should be dry again from Saturday.
