Mo 7.9. Hamnøy

It is raining heavily at night and in the morning, in the afternoon the sun comes out

Today is Gerd's birthday, and because of the weather we are having a cozy morning in our Rorbuer (former seasonal fishermen's hut).

In the afternoon, the weather clears up, so we hop on our bikes and ride to Anita's famous fish restaurant, where we warmed up seven years ago. There, we treat ourselves to fish soup and freshly peeled shrimp..

Since the sun is shining now, we continue to Å to once again eat big and delicious cinnamon buns at the bakery. The whole tour is enriched with great memories - these high, steep and rugged cliffs, the ascent to Reinebringen, this view over each new bay, this collection of red houses, this winding road - all seen before and yet amazing again.

Shortly before the bakery, unfortunately Gerd's front tire bursts, so after coffee and cinnamon bun he takes the bus back to Hamnøy to pick up the car and get the bike. Gondula rides the route back alone by bike and enjoys the beautiful views from the other direction.

In the evening, the birthday is rounded off with a good meal: entrecote with oven-baked potatoes and beetroot a la Gerd, and for dessert Trio a la Gondula with vanilla yogurt and sour cream on a bed of stewed Norwegian plums.

Seven years ago we stayed in this hut in Å, it was a small campsite back then, now everything has been renovated, many more "Rorbuer" have been added, it has become busier... only the nature and the landscape remain unique! The campsite is privately owned today...
