A train journey, it's funny, a train journey, it's nice... No, it wasn't that easy this time! It was quite nerve-racking. But let's start at the beginning:
We left the super awesome hotel with the perfect location at 10 o'clock (Super awesome mainly refers to the location, the view, but also to our bungalow; the food wasn't that great. But hunger is the best cook).
We went to Nuwara Eliya to take the train to Ella. This train is famous for its amazing view of Sri Lanka's hilly tea landscape.
But there was one thing we didn't calculate. That we might not be the only ones who want to take this ride in the perfect weather. Many people boarded in Kandy with the aim of going to Ella or Galle.
And we only got tickets for 3rd class, that means in the overcrowded train with tourists as well as many locals. And when I say "FULL", it really was. For the first hour, we hardly saw anything of the view because there were only heads in front of us. I really thought this was a total disaster. I just wanted the ride to be over.
But then it finally got a bit emptier and we were able to get seats. And from there, it went uphill (Not the train, but our mood; because the train was already at the highest point!). That's when I was able to take some nice snapshots.
The journey lasted about 2.5 hours in total, and our driver was already waiting at the station, who took us to the nearby hotel "Sky Green Resort." Here, too, we were rewarded with a wonderful view. The balcony is the best place to type!
The food here is fantastic again and the service is perfect!
