Fes, the city of tanners

प्रकाशित भइल बा: 21.10.2019

Fes impresses us. We stroll through the alleyways, at first we try to remember the turns, until we realize that it's useless. We wander through the touristy streets, find narrow back alleys and streets where you don't meet any Europeans. In the midst of this maze of narrow streets, fresh fruits and vegetables are piled up, and we start to calculate how many wheelbarrows and donkeys deliver these goods here every day. Martin needs a belt anyway, so we let ourselves be led to one of these balconies where you can watch the tanners at work. Here, work is still done as it was hundreds of years ago. We observe the scene for a while, until the smell reaches our noses despite the mint branch. Martin finds a leather belt and then by coincidence we find our way out of the Medina within 5 minutes. We take a taxi back to the bus. The children behaved so well that we let them romp around in a much too loud indoor playground. After this extreme contrast, overwhelmed with stimuli, we escape towards the mountains.
