For today, I have found myself a companion. Being alone for too long can be a bit lonely. My new - albeit involuntary - friend was the Adige. And she was very talkative. With her total of 409 km from her source in South Tyrol to the Adriatic, she had already covered quite a distance on her way to Verona and was bubbling over with her experiences.
Unfortunately, our paths parted again at the Ponte Nuovo. I walked through the streets of Verona time and again. In doing so, I discovered 'familiar' and also completely new sights, enjoyed the sun, and spontaneously stumbled upon a market at Piazza Erbe, where various specialties, souvenirs, and clothes were offered. After battling the bustling crowd, I decided to treat myself to an ice cream. It unexpectedly overshadowed all my previous experiences. And not just because of the taste (which was, of course, amazing). What really blew me away was the shape. The ice cream looked like a rose. A rose made of pistachio and passion fruit. Simply to die for!
After wandering through the streets and stepping into a few shops and then completely losing track of time in a bookstore, I sought out a cozy trattoria for dinner and am currently sitting here with a refreshing Aperol, writing this entry, and waiting for my spaghetti. Definitely a successful evening. La Dolce Vita.
