Red Rock Trail

When we open the door of the camper, we are being watched. The kangaroos are already awake and greet us curiously. While we have breakfast, we inspect the animals and enjoy the beautiful weather. It's crazy: yesterday morning wild dolphins, this morning kangaroos.

The owner of the place and foster father of the kangaroos tells us that he has been there for the kangaroos 20 hours a day for 13 years. On the grounds there are not only animals that he has raised himself with a bottle, but also some wild animals that visit and usually disappear into the bush after a few weeks. In general, the area is not fenced, which means that the animals can hop back into nature at any time if they feel like it. When you consider that there are also animals in the station that need to be fed every 4 hours, it quickly becomes clear that it is a lifelong task for the owner. Impressive!

We drive into town and spend our lunch break at the beach. Sunscreen, lunch, and reading. We have chosen a hike for the afternoon.

After we couldn't be completely convinced by the last hikes, this time it's different. The path leads us along the coast. Lonely beaches alternate with rocky and green passages. Except for a few kangaroos, no one has embarked on this hike, so we are alone for the entire time. Since we haven't experienced this solitude on Australian hiking trails so far, we enjoy it.
