Norway trip May 26-June 17, 2022/ May 30

Today we continue towards Bo in Vesteralen. Through beautiful nature, mountains, we make a short detour to the dreamy place, Smines, where we observe Lofoten birds breeding and even manage to take a photo of a nest with their eggs. We reach our amazing cottage early afternoon. We are simply thrilled, it's so beautiful, situated on a small hill with a great view of the fjord. We will spend the next five nights here, with daylight and midnight sun. It's amazing how we get to enjoy the spectacle of the midnight sun. Bo in Vesteralen has a problem, it is scenically beautiful but somewhat remote, and forecasts say that its population will decline, currently 2500 residents. About a year ago, Bo therefore reduced the municipal share of wealth tax in order to attract the rich and investors. Four millionaires have already taken the bait, including skiing legend Björn Daehlie. His statement is that he wants to invest the saved money in the region or directly in Bo, and he is looking forward to hunting and fishing in Vesteralen. Today we also try our luck with fishing and lo and behold, Annemarie catches our dinner.
