We wake up early, skip breakfast, and start our exploration of Kangaroo Island with tour guide Sarah. She has found out the places to visit and see:

Stop 1 - Prospect Hill

A small hill that climbs over 400 steps. Without breakfast, it seems like a steep start to the day. Once we reach the top, we have a great view of a part of the island. Unfortunately, the weather is still not very favorable... The sky is covered with clouds, it's windy, and it's about 16 degrees.

Stop 2 - Seal Bay

Unaware of what awaits us here, we buy two tickets to get to Seal Bay. We walk along a very long wooden boardwalk that leads to a breeding ground for sea lions and seals. The entire beach and the bush area behind it are occupied by them. We learn that they spend three to four days continuously hunting in the water and then rest on land for three to four days to recover. That's why we see many of them sleeping. There are also a few very small ones.

Stop 3 - Little Sahara

In the midst of the grassy and bushy landscape, there is a sand dune area. We can't miss that. So, in order to continue exploring the island in different ways, we rent a sandboard and slide down the dunes a few minutes later. Just like sledding, walking uphill is exhausting, but it keeps us warm. We try different things with and without the board. Conclusion: We have fun and a lot of sand with us.

Stop 4 - Vivionne Bay

In the travel guide, it says that it is a must to visit the beach with white sand. So we do that. We take a small gravel road to the beach. It would be beautiful if it were a little warmer and sunnier. After a quick look, we continue driving. We are wearing sweaters and long pants.

Stop 5 - Coffee and Camping

On the way to the campground, we see that the vegetation has been affected by the 2020 bushfire. Black, barren trees dominate the landscape. The bushes have since recovered and are showing off their green dress.

We book today's campsite on the way to the next stop. Since there are practically no restaurants on the island, we enjoy a delicious cappuccino from the campground kiosk.

Stop 6 - Flinders Chase National Park / Remarkable Rocks

On a granite rock formation on the coast, rocks are perched atop - this is the best description. They already look really impressive from a distance. Once we get there, they are even more powerful and impressive. We are even allowed to step on the rocks. They somehow remind us of a huge rock skeleton.

Stop 7 - Flinders Chase National Park / Admiral Arch

We walk along another seal colony on a long wooden boardwalk, where they rest on the rocks. At the end of the boardwalk, we suddenly find ourselves in a kind of cave that has been carved out by the water and is now an 'admiral' arch.

Stop 8 - Home Camping

Back at the campground, we grill the patties and vegetables for our vegetarian-style burgers on the grill. The digestive walk afterwards is also not to be missed today. This time, there is a short trail to the 'Blue Lagoon' behind the campground area. Here, we discover numerous kangaroos and koalas. As darkness falls, our campground becomes almost like a wildlife zoo. Countless kangaroos and wallabies visit us and Yoshi :)
