Phuket Vol. 2

We deliberately took our time for our last Thailand - post....We wanted to show you a collection of our other highlights in Phuket. And for that you simply need time :)

Another highlight of our stay in Phuket was the 'Airport Beach'. As the name suggests, this beach is located directly at the airport's runway. Curious as we are, it is possible to reach this section of the beach by a small walk. The way there was also a great experience. We came across a dead pufferfish and had the opportunity to examine it closely. Miniature crabs were running around on the sand everywhere and we had to constantly avoid them.

The view over the sea was magnificent. When we arrived at the beach, it was an extraordinary feeling to be so close to the airport's runway. We could not only hear the turbines extremely loud, but also actually see when the landing gear was retracted. An interesting story for us. Of course, we immediately tried to take pictures with the planes and to put ourselves in the limelight. See for yourself what became of these attempts. We stayed there until nightfall and were rewarded with a magnificent view on our walk along the beach!

It was time for us to relax from all this 'exploration stress' and we needed a massage. Finally... after all, we had been in Thailand for 6 weeks without a massage. How silly can one be when considering that a one-hour massage costs only 6 euros? :) In any case, we finally managed to visit a massage salon and treat ourselves there. We each booked a package of 2 massages lasting 2 hours. Heavenly... After a provisional foot cleaning, we were led into a double cabin and it started. Almost everything you can imagine was massaged. After the massage, we were invited to a delicious Thai tea.

The place of dreams:

Our absolute highlight and top secret tip was a private pool in the middle of the mountains. From up there, we had a picturesque view that couldn't have been better. To escape the daily hustle and bustle, this spot offered absolute peace and relaxation. The staff at the pool bar took care of our well-being continuously. This facility is actually not accessible to the general public. Thanks to a friend locally, Nico, we had the opportunity to get to know this location. An absolute hotspot that we will definitely miss!

Halli Galli.....

Halli Galli is the order of the day here in Patong, the place where our accommodation is located. The famous Bangla Road offers the male clientele everything imaginable. Of course, we also had to conquer this party mile and started the evening with 1,2,3 beers in Nico's hostel. With a little alcohol in our blood, we walked down the famous street and looked at everything very closely. Countless promoters try to lure you into the various bars and clubs. Ping - Pong shows were offered non-stop. We also wanted to go to one of the famous Ping - Pong shows. However, we knew better and didn't go in with a promoter, but with Nico and his Thai girlfriend. So we had the best show at the best price. Crazy things are shown on stage... We won't go into further details in this post, but we will be happy to tell you personally. Not suitable for minors and such :) After the show, the two of them showed us the 3 most popular clubs in town and we danced until late at night. Since Nico and his girlfriend had to work the next day, they said goodbye and we stayed a little longer. Due to the exorbitant prices in the clubs, we decided to continue to supply ourselves with beer outside. We walked through the streets and logically got more supplies. The flow of conversation seemed endless. With the rising of the sun, we grabbed two more beers and went up to our rooftop terrace. The pool didn't have to wait long for our company :) . We spent our time on the rooftop terrace until 10 o'clock in the morning until our eyes closed. And they closed for a long time... We slept through the whole day and only woke up again in the evening at 7:30 pm. INSANE - but Awesome! Now it was time for food and we went to a BBQ buffet, stuffed ourselves and then went back to sleep until the next morning. An experience of a different kind.

A really nice experience was our trip to Phuket Town. The capital impresses with its extraordinary architecture. Houses in Chinese or Portuguese colonial style are not uncommon and make this place appear cozy. However, our goal was not to admire the buildings, but the night market. And it was great! Cozy and with a sophisticated atmosphere, it presented itself in great weather. We discovered dishes there that we hadn't seen anywhere else before. The aroma of these dishes spread across the entire market and made you want more. Locals were just as present here as tourists. The market is not really big, but due to the beautiful presentation of food and products, it is absolutely recommendable.

Thanks to another tip from Nico, we went up to the rooftop of the city's tallest building. From up here, we had a gigantic view of the hustle and bustle below. The Bangla Road with all its lights impressed as well as the view of the main street and the mountains behind. A must-do in Patong!

Culinary delights:

It was time for a treat again & since my sweetheart (Thimo) had never eaten lobster before, it was about time. If not now, when? But we didn't go to a fancy restaurant for it, but to the daily food market around the corner. Small but nice! Lobster, crabs, prawns, red snapper, ice cream, pancakes, noodles... everything is available here! We decided on a stand with various seafood. On the plate ended up a lobster, two giant prawns, an 'alien shrimp' & a whole roasted red snapper. Vegetables and rice were also served. The food tasted excellent and the price of 56 euros was absolutely justified. Checked off: Eating lobster :).

We spent the last evening in Patong with our friend Nico. He and his Thai girlfriend prepared a great dinner for us. 2 different fish were prepared on the grill. A 'Catfish' and a whole sea bass in a salt crust. Delicious, delicious, delicious. In addition, there was omelette, rice, and homemade curry. An ideal evening to end the day in Thailand in a cozy way. It is now 0:30 am and the alarm clock will wake us up at 5:30 am. ON TO SINGAPORE!!! Finally....

Finally, we can say that we liked Thailand overall. In the 8 weeks, we got to know a different culture and had a lot of fun. We were able to take positive and negative things with us from the various customs and traditions. However, it must be said honestly that a stay of 5-6 weeks would have been sufficient for us.

We have now arrived in Singapore. We made the most of the first two days and experienced a lot. Singapore is amazing! The lack of internet connection is the reason why we couldn't publish the post earlier. We are really looking forward to the coming days in Singapore. The great adventure Australia is also not far away... things will get exciting. We are full of anticipation and will happily report to you about our experiences.

We send you greetings from the fantastic city of Singapore and wish you a good night :)
