New Zealand - Day 3 - Cape Reinga + Christmas Eve

The first excursion didn't take long to happen. On Christmas Eve, we took the bus to Cape Reinga, the northernmost point of the North Island of New Zealand.

On the way there, we made some stops. First was the Puketi Kauri Forest with giant trees. Even though the path only led a few meters into the forest, it gave a real jungle feeling. The trees were huge.

The next stop was the 90 Mile Beach. Driving by bus along the seemingly endless beach was a really cool experience. The bus driver showed us that there were many seashells here. You just needed to dig a hole with your hand and you would find one. After that, we built a human pyramid.

Then we went to the sand dunes to go sandboarding. It was really cool sliding down the sand dune with the board.

After that, we went to Cape Reinga and enjoyed the beautiful view of the beaches, the lighthouse, and the endless ocean. An amazing view.

On the way back, we made a stop at a Fish and Chips restaurant and then returned to Paihia.

We spent Christmas Eve together with many nationalities at the hostel. There was a party until midnight, which then moved to the beach after the bar closed (holiday). A successful Christmas celebration.

End of Day 3.
