Ecuador / Galapagos Islands - Day 6 - Playa de la Estacion and Turtle Ranch

प्रकाशित भइल बा: 01.01.2017

On the 6th day, we had a boring retirees' trip planned, but since we happened to meet Rebecka, our travel agent on the Galapagos Islands, two days ago, we spontaneously changed the schedule for the day and had the morning free to experience something better (not retiree-like).

Therefore, after breakfast, we headed towards Playa de la Estacion and saw 2 beaches there. It wasn't really a highlight, but it was nice to stretch our legs in the morning.

After breakfast, we went to the Highlands. On the way, we stopped at Twin Crater. These are 2 giant holes that were formed when magma caves collapsed. One hole was ridiculously deep.

Then we went to the Turtle Ranch. It used to be inhabited by cows, but after the cows didn't have enough food, the owner took them away and a huge number of giant turtles settled there, which you can experience up close (just don't touch them...).

On the ranch, there were also 3 almost interconnected lava tunnels that we walked through one after the other. It was sometimes pitch dark, but thankfully we have smartphones with built-in flashlights ;)

At the end of the day, we climbed into the displayed turtle shells there. It was mega funny!

End of Day 6.
