Through the Thuringian Forest to Leipzig

In the morning, I make pancakes for my CS host Daniel, Melanie is already at school. The homemade applesauce from Grandma's apples goes very well with it. 😊 Daniel gives me some tips for hiking in the Thuringian Forest and then I start my journey.

I hike near Steinach, a ski area in the Thuringian Slate Mountains with great viewpoints. I don't meet any other hikers, maybe because I'm here during the week, I enjoy the viewpoints in idyllic silence and collect some pieces of slate.

Afterwards, I pass through Lauscha, which is known for its glassblowing. The grey houses, all covered with slate, look really interesting and different.

After another 2 hours of driving, which I almost do without a break, I finally arrive at Lake Cospuden at around 8 pm. At the parking lot at the harbor, you can park for free between 8 pm and 9 am, and I'm lucky to get one of the last parking spaces. At the right time in the right place, I then see this amazing sunset.
