Hello Mumbai - Namaste,
with a pleasant descent, I gradually circled over the city towards the landing strip of Mumbai. The check-in went smoothly, and I could immediately dive into the traffic chaos at Mumbai's streets during the rush hour in the evening. Let me tell you, I have personally never seen anything like it anywhere else. Cars upon cars, and everyone constantly honking as if there was a prize for the longest and loudest honking. In my opinion, as always, POINTLESS!!!
The next morning, it was time to leave the hotel on foot for the first time. But as you can see, I have already endured that as well. So I strolled the first 2-3 km to the first sights, including the Gateway of India, and the adjacent Taj Mahal Hotel, which gained publicity in the media due to the attacks in 2008.
In the afternoon, I took a boat for 1 hour to Elephanta Island. There too, I had to walk uphill in the crowded rush, passing by the obligatory stalls that offered all kinds of knick-knacks. Eventually, I reached the summit. There, you could admire an old Portuguese cannon and enjoy the view of the extremely smoggy Mumbai through the trees.
The next day, I visited the Mani Bhavan, the Mahatma Gandhi Museum. It was very beautiful and interesting. Highly recommended for those who may have studied Mahatma Gandhi.
Afterwards, it was time to pack and head to the Central Station. There, the train towards Aurangabad, which is the next destination of the journey, awaited us.
I will tell you about the first journey next time.
