Canada Day 16 (2) - Bitten by Mosquitoes in Kamloops

प्रकाशित भइल बा: 09.10.2018

Since we had some time to kill before checking into our motel and we had fled from the mosquitoes at BC Wildlifepark, we were looking for some activity. One option was the city park, River Side Park. It was quite busy due to the great weather. The park is located right by the lake, which some people were using to cool off. However, we were feeling lazy and found a bench where we could observe the scene while eating a mediocre hot dog.

Soon it was time to check in, so we made our way back to our motel, which was right off the highway. We were pleasantly surprised - everything looked clean and well-maintained, wonderful. There was also an air-conditioner. It was loud like a train, but provided a nice coolness. So we could rest for a while before heading out to hike the Sunset Trail. As the name suggests, this trail offers a magnificent sunset with great views of Kamloops.

Unfortunately, we hadn't learned from our experience at the wildlife park and didn't apply insect repellent. A big mistake. After a short time, we had to turn back because we were literally getting eaten alive by the bugs. It was unbearable, so we had no choice but to hastily return. So no sunset for us, instead we had to tend to our mosquito bites in the motel and tried to treat the worst ones with a lighter. I stopped counting at 30...

Later, we discussed what to do the next day. There wasn't much to do in Kamloops, especially considering the temperatures over 30 degrees. We already knew that there was the option of zip lining nearby. We had thought about doing that beforehand. However, I came across a flyer for white water rafting. Both activities were priced similarly. In the end, we both agreed that rafting would be more enjoyable and it would be perfect for the hot weather. Plus, I had never been rafting before and really wanted to try it. So we quickly booked a rafting tour online for the next day. We were excited!
