From Smith Rock State Park to Toketee Falls

Our morning walk takes us through Smith Rock State Park; a really great trail with wonderful views of the Three Sisters and Mount Jefferson - all volcanoes in the Cascade Range. As always, we have coffee and internet in town afterwards. We have the brakes on Carlito checked again to see if they should be replaced. They advise against it considering the imminent sale.

We head south towards Crater Lake, the deepest lake in the country at almost 600m. Impressive! It is located in a volcanic cone with a volcanic island as a supplement. The water is wonderfully deep blue and the views are fantastic, but we feel like traveling on before evening. Near the Toketee Falls, which we visit after dinner, we find a campground. As a side note: most of the campgrounds we visit off the tourist spots are equipped with pit toilets and payment stations, that's it.

The water of the Toketee Falls falls twice through a hole in a high basalt wall. No wonder the word "Toketee" means "beautiful" in Native American...

Since nobody can change money for the campground, we end up staying for free.
