22.01.2020 - Day 27 - Sydney, Australia

After saying our heartfelt goodbyes to our wonderful hosts Barb & Paul, we set off on the 3.5-hour journey to Auckland International Airport, not without taking a detour to Harley Davidson Auckland beforehand, where each of us treated ourselves to a t-shirt as a memento of New Zealand. Upon arriving at the airport, we returned our rental car, which has served us well in covering nearly 2,000km throughout the North Island of New Zealand.

With a slight delay, we then took off with Air New Zealand towards Sydney, where we landed at 6pm local time (we are now only 10 hours ahead). By the way, there is no longer any smoke or haze from the numerous forest fires that have affected Sydney and its surroundings in recent weeks. The heavy rainfall in the past few days has helped calm the situation. After a wild and approximately 25-minute taxi ride across the city, we arrived at our hotel, where we checked into our suite on the 20th floor (!) and where we have the most magnificent view that Sydney has to offer from our two balconies.
