San Cristobal Part 2

Our return journey to Mexico goes back through San Cristobal. The 12-hour drive with the tourist shuttle from Antigua Guatemala to San Cristobal in Chiapas is tough. It takes even longer because part of the highway is closed and we have to drive through the mountains.

We stay at the same hotel as last time. There we meet again the friendly woman who works at the hostel and conjures up delicious breakfast every morning. We also get to know 2 Germans with whom we go out to party in the evenings, the first time we go partying in Mexico. Furthermore, I have time to update my blog on the beautiful rooftop terrace. :)

The next day we 'have to' leave the hostel because we hadn't reserved any further nights and all the rooms are fully booked. Since we actually had enough of San Cristobal, we decide to spend the remaining two nights in Comitan in order to drive from there to the Chiflon waterfalls. Before we leave, we walk to the market so I can buy some fruits and have something to eat. We get lost a little in the many alleys and by chance we stumble upon a restaurant called Tacos Chingon (in English 'fucking awesome tacos') - well if that's not exactly right for us?! Actually, I eat the best tacos of my entire stay in Mexico here :)

The bus ride with the ADO Bus (comparable to Flixbus or even better) is very relaxing after the exhausting chicken bus rides in Guatemala. Ice Age is playing on the way, so the 2-hour journey flies by.

Arriving in Comitan, the rain has stopped, the evening sun is coming out again, so the city appears in a beautiful light. The center with the Park resembles the many Mexican cities we visited on our tour to Veracruz. We like it very much because there are no tourists here, it is very quiet compared to the colorful San Cristobal, and everything looks very well-maintained.
