Another night of rain, but sunshine is expected towards morning. I didn't sleep very well because there are always people who think that when 7 people sleep in a room, there's no need to open a window. Although I would have been the most affected. Shortly after breakfast, the ascent begins in a dwarf pine field and continues over the wide Pezedei plateau, over several rock steps to the hidden Forcella de Zida Sud pass. From here, there is a magnificent view of a world of rugged rock spikes and untouched nature. I consciously take in all of this because I will be leaving this fascinating landscape today. The descent continues over a high basin in several steps to Rifugio Pian de Fontana. Since I took many breaks along the way to make phone calls (good reception is rare here), I continue walking. Once again, I walked uphill to Forcella la Varetta. Through magnificent alpine meadows and forest sections with great distant views of the northern flank of Schiara. By now, I also noticed my knees were feeling it well, as I walked downhill a lot today. From above, I could already see my destination for today, Rifugio Bianchet.
Here, there was a great surprise for me - I got a single room. I was overjoyed. And there were showers too. It's nice when you can be happy about such small things that are otherwise taken for granted. Tomorrow, I will walk 2 hours on a gravel road and then take the bus to Belluno. Here, I want to arrange accommodation for Jesolo (preferably a campsite) and book the train journey to Munich or home on the next day. On Tuesday, I will meet up with Annika, another MV hiker. Together, we want to go to Rifugio Col Visentin. That will really be the last summit 😅. At least another 1500 meters in altitude and downhill the next day.
