Breathtaking views

We started the day a bit late and hungover after saying goodbye to our hosts and the other guests.

Directly from the homestay, we went through the cornfields down to the town to visit the Sunday market, where you can get everything you need... From clothes to food to pet food and animals like puppies, chickens, pigs, and even cows were found at the market.

From there, we went straight up into the mountains. We hiked about 15 km further up. For a while, we walked parallel to the Chinese border. From a distance, we could also see the fence that the Chinese built during the Covid-19 pandemic to prevent illegal border crossings.

After several kilometers and passing through several mountain villages, we went off the road onto a small path. From here, we had a fantastic view of the valleys, villages, and fields. And even here, mopeds always came towards us.

After lunch, we only had a few kilometers drive to the next stop - the Sky Pass. On the next 7 km hike, we could enjoy and admire the panorama at an altitude of up to 1800 m.

We spent the night in Meo Vac. I went to bed early because I was pretty exhausted from the day and the cold had done the rest. Henni and Micha went next door for a drink and met a few girls from the day before and even had a karaoke session.

The next morning, we started early because our guide had to rearrange things a bit. We had realized in the evening that Vang did not receive the current route from the agency. But luckily, everything could be resolved.

The boat trip on the Nho Que River (the 'green cinnamon' river) and through the canyon started early. From the boat, we could admire the panoramic view and the hiking trail from the previous day from a different perspective.

The rest of the day we spent in the car. We took about 6 hours to cover the almost 200 km across the mountains, up and down serpentine roads, so we arrived in Ba Be National Park in the dark.
