Hi

Saturday held the best weather for exploring Trondheim. I definitely walked a total of 16 km. I won't describe my round in detail, but I was fascinated by individual places. The old fortress Kristiansten surprised me with salutes shortly after my arrival - the birthday of the Crown Princess was celebrated. Many young people gathered on the open meadows in the park for fun sporting competitions - the new university students were initiated. The Nidaros Cathedral and the associated exhibitions were very beautiful and informative. The cathedral seemed very sober to me, the gray color of the stone used and the gothic upward architecture gives the impression of basalt columns. The exhibitions drew my attention to further details and so I spent almost 3 hours there ...

Some beautiful corners have been preserved from the old town and the proximity to the water and the small harbor round off the picture of a beautiful city in northern Europe. I really liked it here.

Today I moved on. It has been raining on and off all day, at around 15 degrees Celsius. Yesterday it was almost 10 degrees warmer. I rarely stop to take photos on a rainy drive. However, I also enjoy the unfolding views in such weather. The area northeast of Trondheim, perhaps up to about 80 km from the city, is quite densely populated. That surprised me. There is a lot of agriculture here, potato fields alternate with cereal fields, cow pastures are in between, and there is also some industry. A fertile area.

Further northeast, it becomes rocky again, and the forest becomes predominant. The warning about reindeer crossing is now commonplace, the rivers are said to have salmon. After many curves on small country roads and proverbial ups and downs, I then used the fastest available connection via the E6 for the last 90 km, in continuous rain. Now I have found accommodation for the night in Grong, in a former farmhouse and power station that has been carefully and delicately adapted to our time.
