When it rained, we headed towards the 12 Apostles along the Great Ocean Road. I have to say in advance that we had no luck with the weather in the first few days, rain, flood, and whatever else goes with it.
Day 1, we quickly drove along the 12 Apostles and took some pictures, unfortunately, it was a bit hazy. Time flew by and it was already evening, and we looked for a place to sleep in a nearby forest. With pouring rain, we all hoped that the tent wouldn't collapse at some point...
Day 2, we approached Adelaide a bit, but we are still about 600 km away. Unfortunately, it rained so much that we couldn't do much. Luckily, there are BBQ areas everywhere, and we were able to set up the tent protected from the rain. Mosquitoes everywhere and I was already so bitten after 2 days, about 30 bites....
Day 3, it's hard to believe, a bit of sun and we went to the Grampians, a national park, and hiked the trails that weren't flooded and ended with a bath in a waterfall. Then we quickly went towards Hollow Mountain to a secluded campsite where no one else was...
Day 4, I've never seen so much rain, everything was flooded and we were soaking wet... We covered 400 km that day and the huge trucks just passed us as if nothing had happened. In the afternoon, we were at Maslin Beach, just before Adelaide, and had a great day at the beach! The weather changes so quickly here, incredible! Slept in the tent on the beach, sunset with dolphins.... very nice.
Day 5, arrival in Adelaide, with a bright blue sky. After saying goodbye to Valerie, Simon took me to my couchsurfing hosts Sundance and Yana, but that's another story.
