8th day, continue via Gibraltar to Sabinillas

Today quite relaxed, about 60 km, 400hm, strong wind but the sun is back.

The Spaniards were very good sailors, they didn't need a bridge, you simply docked either on the right or on the left. That's not so easy for today's cyclists. Gibraltar is estimated 8 km as the crow flies from the hostel, but the river in between forces a 20 km detour to use a bridge that is allowed for bicycles. Our navigation system would have sent us over the highway bridge.

Gibraltar, what can one say about it? It was on the tour and was a must-do. English, of course, just with right-hand traffic. Crowds of tourists, we couldn't go up the mountain because of our bikes and luggage, and it would have been just two more monkeys. Our visit was limited, the most interesting part was crossing the runway. So let's continue....

The further ride northward towards the coast was pleasant. For a short time we had a great bike path. Mind you, next to the highway, not on it. Don't trust navigation systems for bikes, nowadays we always compare Google and Komoot, one-way streets, highways, and pushing sections are interpreted very differently.

The first week is over, it's going quite well. We have more than 300 km now, we're about where we planned to be, we've had some route problems but we've overcome them and stayed dry.

Sorry, it's getting longer every day, bye until tomorrow
