After our experiences in February, we arrive at the Les Cigales campsite near Cannes relatively early in order to secure a free spot. We arrive and unfortunately the reception is still on break, but a quick glance lets us breathe a sigh of relief as we see that there are still many available spots. So we take the time to restock our supplies. Nicole goes to the supermarket and works through the shopping list. After a few minutes she realizes that few people are still wearing masks and even the employees are not wearing them anymore. At the car and after a little research, we find out that almost all measures have been abolished in France. Somehow a little scary. And so far, no one has asked to see our booster vaccination. The inner monk prefers to continue wearing a mask indoors and in crowds. We don't necessarily want to risk getting infected in the caravan or on the road. Back at the campsite, we are lucky and get a spot for one week, and we extend our stay once again and ultimately stay for 9 nights. Nicole even manages to get an appointment with a German dentist in St. Tropez, but unfortunately not until April. The campsite is located on a river and has a small private jetty for guests' boats. The site gets very busy, especially on weekends, so we decide not to go on big trips to Cannes or Nice. Finally, after a good 2 weeks, the sun comes out again and the temperatures rise. We are looking forward to the day of the time change in order to be able to sit outside longer in the evenings. We enjoy the walks along the river towards the sea and the beach. In just 15 minutes you can reach a small beach where dogs are apparently allowed. Rocky is of course delighted with every visit there.
During the week, we go to Cannes. Cannes has a small old town that houses many upscale restaurants. The rest of the city seems very artificial and reflects a little the image that many know from TV. Big yachts, many flashy expensive cars, many expensive shops, and everything seems very unreal. Hardly any garbage, the buildings look like they were painted, and everywhere there are many people who are very concerned about their appearance. We skip this corner of Cannes. But of course, Rocky still wants to put his paw in the hand of his idol Sylvester Stallone. *g* We won't miss a visit to the venue of the annual film festival. We plan a trip to Nice for the next few days.
