The weather is once again cold, rainy, and miserable. We need to head south. We are considering our next plan, in Trondheim the route forks either towards Bergen on the west coast or south to Oslo. We would like to see the Jostedal Glacier and the Trollstigen, but that means many more kilometers and with really bad weather forecasts. We are slowly done with the north and have seen many great mountains and fjords, but we are really longing for France and Portugal and sun and warmth.
The decision falls on going south. So back on the E6, yes, with construction traffic...we can't stand it anymore...! Our decision falls on Lillehammer, here we want to find a place to stay. Besides, I would like to try a museum again. Here is the Olympic Museum and as an old sports teacher, I have to educate myself professionally from time to time.
We find a really nice campsite right on the lake. It's not full, but quite busy. Only retirees and white fridges...! We find a spot right at the end, right by the water.
In the evening we take a nice walk through the city, up the hill...! Lillehammer is not big, the population is about 28,000 people. It probably would have never become so popular without the Olympics. A really beautiful city, we would also like to experience it in winter.
I go to bed early in the evening, a bit of reading. Jörni waited in vain for more Northern Lights until after midnight.
The next morning we decide not to go to the museum and then continue our journey, but to extend our stay for a day and walk to the museum. 2.5 km uphill is not that much, plus we visit a sports museum...! Besides, the sun is shining and we have the feeling that we are currently a bit on the run. We travel further every day. A really good decision to stay another day.
At noon we reach the museum and it is really interesting and we were almost alone the whole time...no Hurtigruten...very good!
That's when the sports teacher's heart beats faster, the Olympic history, real medals and Olympic torches...great! It was a big wish as a child to participate. But I didn't, instead I just touch everything I can...!
Jörni and I decide to compete in figure skating again. Jörni will take over the part with the lifts, so I will lift Örni...I skate over the ice in the splits, while holding Jörni's ankle and then lifting it over my head, while he in turn wears his lilac-colored rain cape and holds the Olympic torch in his hand...so...that's how it should look like. But we don't want to reveal the whole choreography just yet!
I will also keep the tickets, maybe I can submit them to the district government for further education and request reimbursement for travel expenses...it won't be cheap for the organization including the isotonic drinks!
In the evening we sit in front of the bus, listen to music and stare at the reflective lights on the lake. Then we had a delicious herring dip with potatoes for dinner and for dessert we had Rømmegrøt (I love it)!
On the way to brush our teeth, I feel like I'm on the Mühlheim camping mile! Today there are even more fridges...!
The next morning we have a relaxed breakfast and leave the beautiful city of Lillehammer!
