Gisborne - a small rendezvous

Публикувано: 13.10.2017

Hello dear ones,

Here I am again. Don't be surprised, I split the last few days into several small blogs because every place deserves to be immortalized on my map here in the blog. So get ready for something.

In the first post of this short series, we're going to talk about Gisborne. After Lina and I finished our trip to the Mahia Peninsula, we drove to Gisborne. The first thing we did was go to a gas station and fill up the car again. After the warning light came on, I was a little worried, but everything was fine. After that, we went to the tourist information center to find out about the free camping sites and activities. But since we were pretty hungry, we first went to the supermarket and bought tortellini for dinner. As a change from pasta with tomato sauce. Then we drove to our campsite right by the river and cooked our dinner. However, we had to sit behind the toilet block because it was so windy. But from there we had a nice view of the adjacent park. After dinner, I took care of some organizational things, wrote postcards and stuff, and then listened to an audiobook while Lina telephoned with her family in the nearby telephone booth with WiFi.

The next morning (12.10) we had breakfast at a wooden table in another part of the park, enjoying the sunshine. After that, I strolled through the park a bit and then we packed and washed the car, the typical morning routine. Then we drove to one of the three lookouts recommended by the woman at the iSite, and walked to the other two from there. After thoroughly enjoying the views, we drove back into town and strolled through the center a bit. The last item on the agenda in Gisborne was to drive to the Warehouse, a store where you can get pretty much everything at a reasonable price, and arm ourselves with inflatable swim rings.

I'll tell you what we needed them for in the next short post.

See you later,

Your Jessi
