Lago Maggiore, a shock and hungry Alessa

Публикувано: 04.10.2021

We moved to Lago Maggiore. In a campground next to the city of Arona. (Or also called Andorra by me)

Here we met Papa's friend Sascha and his dear Iris.

My story today happened on a harmless day. The Hornungs were on their way to a little hike where we got lost very little often.

And on the way there in the car, it happened. After a curve in front of us, an Audi overtook a blue car. All lines solid, curve poorly visible but go ahead and speed up. Now the blue car wanted to turn after the curve. Just as the Audi was level with the other car, it indicated and turned left. Full throttle into the passenger door. Huge crash, screeching brakes, we immediately full of excitement. The Audi spun 180 degrees and almost hit the next wall. Hazard warning lights on, I buckle up, take out my phone and get ready to provide first aid.

I look at the blue car and what does it do? It just drives away.

I immediately tried to decipher the license plate so that I could give it to the police later.

Then I turned back to the front and what did the rammed Audi do?

Turn around and quickly drive away.

We were completely shocked!!!! Faster than we could say anything, both cars were gone and we were left completely shocked.

So we continued on our way to the hike, but the shock was still in our bones.

Then came the next story 😅

After the long hike, we decided to go out to eat. So, I searched on Google for restaurants along our route and came across a small restaurant in the mountains. That should be something for us.

So, I directed Papa to a small mountain village. What Google hadn't told me was that the streets were mini-mini small and narrow. Accompanied by constant 'uuuuhhhh' and 'watch out', Papa maneuvered through the alleys.

When we arrived at the 'destination', there was no restaurant to be seen...

So, Papa asked me to go up and check the situation. Confidently, I approached a door and rattled at it, which opened. Joyfully, I stepped into the dim room and heard a voice saying 'Hallo'. Ok, now it's serious and I entered the backyard with a 'Ciao'. Wildly gesturing, I tried to explain that I'm looking for 'mangiare'. I threw together some random Spanish and half-Italian words, desperately hoping not to be arrested for trespassing. The older lady sitting across from me wouldn't let me babble and casually said 'you can also speak German with me' 😲🙈

As it turned out, she is originally from Germany and runs the restaurant, which is currently being renovated and therefore closed. She asked where I came from and where I was going. I could hear pity in her voice, how hungry I was, and she took pity on me. 'Well then, bring in your parents, I won't leave you hungry standing at the door' and suddenly we sat at the table and finally got spaghetti 💛

How nice that there are still such warm-hearted people and such unexpected encounters make my sabbatical year unforgettable.
