Stage 28: From Qeparo to Igoumenitsa

After a restful night in the tent, it was time to set off very early, as my camping spot was right on the beach promenade. So I quickly went to the bakery and then continued south! A short stop in Saranda for coffee and water, and then it continued along the main road. Another city in Albania that I would have liked to explore further. In the Butrint National Park, there were some more uphill sections waiting for me. With clear skies and temperatures up to 25 degrees, I slowly but surely approached the border to Greece. Rapid tests were carried out at the border crossing in Mavromati, the Greek authorities probably know how the pandemic is being managed in Albania...

The last kilometers to the campsite led the Eurovelo through huge fields of mandarin trees. Towards evening, it became windier and my tent at the campsite in Drepano was shaking quite a bit. Nevertheless, it was still warm enough for a quick swim in the sea! Unfortunately, all the restaurants and markets near the campsite were closed, so dinner had to be skipped.
