As soon as we arrived yesterday, the receptionist pointed out the many hiking trails that can all be reached on foot from the accommodation. With this information, we definitely won't miss the opportunity to visit a few waterfalls and exciting green paths.
We set off right after breakfast and walk along the 'main road' uphill for about a kilometer, until we descend a smaller, stone staircase and leave the town behind.
Within a few minutes, we can no longer see, hear or smell anything from the city, and we find ourselves in the middle of nature. The path is well-built and signposted, so we quickly and easily reach the first waterfall.
Wow..
Comparing what we see in this moment with specimens we have seen near Ubud, one wonders again why more people do not travel outside the tourist hotspots. At least 20 meters above our heads, the river flows into the void, creating a rushing curtain that has already eaten its way into the gray rock - very impressive.
We continue hiking along the path and visit two more waterfalls on the entire march, which are even more spectacular and impressive than those we have seen so far. We enjoy the 'jungle atmosphere' and the untouched nature. Even though the edges of the path and a few terraces are artificially planted from time to time, the whole route hardly loses its authenticity and still looks original.
After a long, exhausting climb out of the valley, we return to our accommodation.
Completely exhausted from the trip, we spend the rest of the day in the room and in the common area. Our tired feet carry us a little further down the street for dinner, where we get roasted chicken and fried noodles. Then it's off to bed.
