26.6.2024 Kotor
Today I had to get up at 6 a.m. to get tickets for one of the first tender boats to Kotor. This time I had booked an excursion and we wanted to start as early as possible.
The tender tickets worked out and I was able to have breakfast. Our group gathered at 8:00 a.m., then we boarded a tender boat together and crossed to Kotor.
Tour guide Andy was waiting for us there and led us to our bus. Then our tour started. We spent ages winding our way up the Kotor serpentines, from which you have a great view of the Bay of Kotor.
Finally we reached the highest point and stopped for photos, then we headed back down. We drove through a village known for its ham and cheese production and finally stopped in Cetinje. There you can visit a monastery, a former castle and former embassy buildings. After a tour of the city we had time for lunch. I wanted to try the local products and bought beer, ham, cheese and crackers. I sat down on a park bench and enjoyed it.
The journey continued to the city of Budva. The old town is protected by a well-preserved city wall, similar to Dubrovnik. We walked through the heat until we were exhausted and at some point we just wanted to go back.
Some time later we were back in Kotor and had the choice of doing another city tour or returning to the ship. With a heavy heart I chose the second option because I didn't want to walk any more.
I didn't want dinner either, I just wanted to quench my thirst. I went to bed early and slept better than I had in a long time.
